2013-06-08 : Rating 5 /5 : I Flew with British airways from Cape Town to Durban. It was a pleasant flight with good all round service. After arriving at Durban Airport, we decided to hire a car as we needed to get to our hotel in Umhlanga. We decided to rent a car at Europcar hire. Being our first time hiring a car we found the service very helpful and reasonably priced. We used our procard discounts and stayed at the Protea Hotel next to the Gateway Mall. We arrived early at the hotel and left our bags with reception and then drove down to explore the beachfront. The hotel room and especially the bathroom was very modern and spacious. The only set back was that the hotel was not in walking distance to the beach. We spent 2 days exploring Durban, the malls and beaches, before we boarded the MSC Sinfonia cruise liner for our 2 day cruise from Durban to nowhere. When we returned the vehicle to Europcar hire in central Durban, they were kind enough to take us to the cruise liner at no extra cost and also to collect us on our return. The cruise was everything and more than we expected - lots of entertainment and enough food to feed a nation. On our return we spent the day in Durban central and then drove down South to explore. We found Durban very, very safe and friendly. We flew back the evening and can confidently say we found all the services ie (hotel, airport and car hire) professional, helpful and friendly.
