This week, we surveyed the prices of flights from Durban to Johannesburg, and found Kulula to Lanseria Airport to be the cheapest option for travel on the 14th of December. The flight prices remained fairly constant since the last survey done on this route, despite the arrival of the festive season. Shosholoza Meyl still had space available to Johannesburg in December in both the economy and tourist classes, and this is the most affordable option for travel. When we checked, Europcar was offering the best rates for car hire from OR Tambo Airport, with a Kia Picanto costing R378 for the weekend. All prices may change.

Events in Johannesburg

The South African Lipizzaners will host the annual Carols by Candlelight in Kyalami on various dates from the 5th to the 22nd of December. Guests will experience shows by the majestic white Lipizzaner horses, incorporating classical Christmas carols and music. Picnic baskets will be on sale and children will be allowed to feed the horses. Tickets are on sale for R130 per person

Car Trawler is the cheapest car rental from OR Tambo

Europcar had the cheapest car hire prices when we compared the prices of renting a car in Johannesburg, pick up and drop off at OR Tambo International Airport from 21h00 on Friday the 14th December 2012 until 13h00 on Sunday the 16th of December 2012. A Kia Picanto or similar will cost R378 for the weekend's rental (R189 per day). Please note that prices may change.
