On the 4th June 2007, as part of South African Airways' restructuring plans, Khaya Ngakula (CEO of SAA) announced that in order to save money, he planned to retrench some 30% of of managers. Subsequent to this, it's been reported that 4 out of the 11 members of SAA's executive committee are considering resigning. This is how it goes - with the retrenchment axe looming overhead, the best staff are often the first to go. The 4 thinking of leaving early are:
Gareth Griffiths (SAA's chief financial officer)
Vishnu Naicker (SAA's chief risk officer)
Nomfanelo Magwentshu (general manager tasked with restructuring)
Louisa Zondo (legal counsel)
